|Frank Arian, M.D.
Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio
Dr. Arian is a Cuban missile crisis baby born in Los Angeles, California. He was raised in Studio City, part of the San Fernando Valley. He is the oldest of three adopted children to his parents Jack and Sylvia. After graduating high school from the Oakwood School in North Hollywood, he majored in biology at University of California, Santa Cruz. He went on to do several years of predatory bird research with the Santa Cruz Predatory Bird Research Group specializing in Peregrine falcons. He gained experience and interest in Emergency Medicine by first completing the Advanced First Aid for Mountaineering course offered by Chad Smith in 1985 at the Van Nuys chapter of the American Red Cross. He went on to get his Emergency Medical Technician certification in late 1985 and ultimately returned to University of California, Davis as a pre-med student in 1986. At U.C. Davis, he majored in Biological Sciences in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1990. Between college and medical school, Dr. Arian learned to fly and completed his Single Engine Land Pilots certification at the Cal Aggie Flying Farmers flight school at U.C. Davis. That same year he completed his Multi-Engine Land certification under Carter Flygare at Sacramento Executive Airport and his Single Engine Sea certification at Lake Havasu, AZ. At that time Dr. Arian worked as a monkey biologist for the Department of Pharmacology at U.C. Davis researching Simian Immunovirus (SIV) in opiate addicted Rhesus monkeys. Just prior to beginning medical school, Dr. Arian completed a lifelong goal and drove from Los Angeles to Alaska, driving the entire Alaska pipeline road ending in Prudhoe Bay as well as the Dempster Highway in Canada’s Northwest Territory ending in Inuvik.
In 1992, Dr. Arian began medical school at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and was awarded his Medical Doctorate in 1996. Following medical school, he began his first internship in Transitional Medicine at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, CA. In the summer between internship and residency, he drove back to Chicago and returned along Route 66 driving every inch of the remaining authentic “Mother Road” ending in Santa Monica. It was one of the highlights of his life. After his internship he did two years of Emergency Medicine residency at Kern Medical Center. After his first residency, Dr. Arian worked in a rural migrant farm worker clinic in Lamont, CA noted for it’s extremely high volume and spoke almost entirely Spanish for the one year he was there. He moved on to run an Urgent Care in Oildale, CA, a suburb of Bakersfield known for its rough and tumble clientele. Dr. Arian returned to Kern Medical Center in 2001 and finished another internship, this one in Family Medicine, and then an additional 2 years of Family Medicine residency. He graduated residency in 2004 and later that year passed the specialty examination and received his Board Certification in Family Medicine.
Dr. Arian moved to Palm Springs in 2004 and spent two and a half years setting up Victory Physicians at the original Indian Canyon address. High overhead and dwindling economy forced downsizing and he relocated Victory Physicians to its present location on Farrell Drive. He lives close by his office with his Golden Retriever “Shelby”. Dr. Arian is an avid collector of WWII Home Front artifacts and is an expert in WWII propaganda. His collection is held in Living Trust with the National Museum of WWII in New Orleans. He published his first book in 2000, “Remember Pearl Harbor Collectibles” and his collection has been featured in 5 other books as well as on the American Experience and in several museums nationwide. He has 3 books in progress including: Oasis at war; Palm Springs during WWII, To Hell With Hitler; Pictorial Atlas of Anti-axis Artifacts from WWII, Arian Guide to WWII Homefront Collectibles.
